How many pictures can I take with each camera?

Every DCH camera can take more pictures than a disposable. With our standard 1gigabyte memory, over 200 photos. If you upgrade to the 2gb, each camera can take well over 400 pictures with room for video.

For your memories, DCH trusts AMICRO flash memory. See memory Vs # of Photos Chart

Why shouldn't I just use disposable cameras?

The concept of disposable cameras is perfect -- what better way to capture the candid moments that make your wedding special. For years this was the only option available. But many people have been unhappy with the results. Who hasn't heard from a bride that used disposable cameras only to find that the guests 'saved' the pictures until later in the wedding, only to leave the cameras with only three or four pictures taken. After paying full developing prices for all of these cameras they were left with low quality pictures of the floor! With digital cameras things are different. You get all of the great candid moments with high quality cameras and engaged wedding guests. And can your disposable camera record your first dance and the ensuing drunken karaoke???

What kind of cameras does DCH use?

DCH uses high quality Olympus digital cameras. We selected Olympus cameras because they are one of the best quality, robust, easy cameras to use for all ages.
We currently use Olympus u700 and u740 cameras. We periodically upgrade our cameras, so it is possible that different (but better) cameras may be substituted.

What is included in shipping?

We charge a flat rate of $24.95 for all shipping costs. This fee includes shipping of all cameras to and from the address of your choice. It also includes shipping of archive CDs and slideshow DVDs.

DCH offers free shipping on reservations placed at least 6 months in advance and 50% off shipping on reservations made 3 to 6 months in advance.

Where does DCH ship?

DCH currently ships anywhere in Australia and New Zealand.

I am going on my honeymoon right after my wedding, can my parents return the cameras?

Yes. DCH even makes this easy. When ordering you can enter an address to return the cameras from in addition to the shipping address. Don't know where you want the cameras shipped yet? Don't worry -- you can give us this information later.

What happens if a camera is damaged?

Incidental damages like scratches are included in camera prices. For damage which effects our ability to rent a camera, we offer insurance for $8 per camera. This insurance covers all damage as long as the camera is returned.

What happens if a camera is lost or stolen?

If a camera is lost or stolen, you will be responsible for its replacement. Replacement fees are based on market rate per camera. Loss of a memory card will result in a $49 charge. Failure to return our premium rechargeable batteries will result in a $20 per set charge. Unfortunately there is no way for DCH to ensure against theft (or else no one would ever return our cameras!). If you are concerned about theft, we recommend either renting fewer cameras and giving them only to trusted family and friends, or using a managed check-out/check-in system. We can tell you that from experience, theft is rarely a problem. DCH cameras are clearly labeled as property of DCH with an instruction tag that makes it clear that the host is responsible for the camera.

This is all great, so how much does it cost?

Our pricing starts at $34.95 per camera. Use our online tool to configure the perfect package for your event. When comparing our prices, don't forget to include the forgotten costs of disposable cameras: processing costs, unused film, and missed opportunities to capture that perfect candid moment.

Do I have to pay it all now, or can I reserve now and pay later?

No, you don't. Reserve now with a fully refundable $50 deposit to ensure camera availability, and pay the balance thirty days before your event. If you change your mind, let us know 30 days or more before your event and we will refund your full $50 deposit.

Can I share my pictures with my friends and family online?

Yes! One of the biggest advantages of digital cameras over disposables is that you can share all of your pictures and video with your friends and family online. One week after your event, everyone can see the pictures they took on youshare and order their own prints of the best ones. Best of all, DCH is registration free, which means no hassle for your guests.

How do my guests know where to go to see the pictures?

DCH includes handy instruction cards that you can give to your guests to remind them where to find their pictures.
At
youshare you and your guests can email pictures to other guests, or people who were unable to make it to your event.

How long does it take for pictures to become available?

All of your photos and video will be online less than a week after we get the cameras back. Average processing time is about two days, which means your pictures are available right when you get back from your honeymoon.

How long are my pictures available online?

As long as you would like. All DCH packages include online photo hosting. The standard hosting length is one month, but most of our customers upgrade the length. In addition to convenient access to your memories from any computer in the world, DCH protects your memories with state-of-the-art redundant storage in several places in the world.

Do my guests have to register at youshare to see the pictures?

No. Unlike most photo services out there, youshare does not require registration to view, print, and share pictures online. We don't like registering, so we won't inconvenience your guests either.

Can my guests upload their own pictures?

Yes! With youshare gallery, anyone can upload their pictures from your event. We have heard too many stories where camera-happy aunty Betty took tons of her own pictures at the wedding never to share them with the bride and groom!
With YouShare, you can send your 'Aunty Joan' to your website where they can upload all of their pictures for everyone to see! Problem solved.

Can I download full-size images and video?

Yes. Unlike most photo services, DCH offers full-size downloads and video on your site. Now mum can print her own refrigerator prints on her home printer and Dad can watch the father-daughter dance over and over.

How do I get my pictures printed?

DCH has unlimited options for photo printing. Through our website, you and your guests can order as many prints as you would like at normal market prices. No more paying for blurry pictures of the floor. If you prefer to print using other services, download full-size images to print at your local drugstore or any other print location. Prefer to print at home? No problem. Download full size images, or print from an archive CD.

How much do prints cost?

DCH doesn't hold your pictures hostage. In fact we don't make any money on your prints. Order as many or as few prints as you would like -- it makes no difference to us. We do offer printing through our website at the current market rates of $0.25 per 4x6 print and $1.99 per 8x10. Think you can get a better deal somewhere else? Download a full-size image or use your archive CD to print somewhere else.

How large can I print my pictures?

7 megapixel cameras can print at up to 11x14 inches

Can DCH cameras record video?

Yes. All DCH digital cameras can record video and audio.

What is a DCH archive CD?

All of your photos and video in full quality on a CD mailed to your doorstep.

What is a DCH slideshow DVD?

All of your photos on a slideshow DVD that you can watch on your DVD player. Get multiple copies as a great thank you present for the Mums and Dads after your wedding!
